Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Catchi founder Thol. Thiruma Palavan condemned a lawyer on Monday, whom he described as ‘Sanathana-fanatic’ for throwing an object (of which he said it was a ‘slipper’) at Chief Justice of India Justice BRai, during a hearing in the Supreme Court in New Delhi. He demanded that the lawyer was arrested under the Act on Unlimited Activities Prevention (UAPA).
In a statement, Mr. Thiruma Palavan said that the perpetrator may not practice as a lawyer from now on. “We learned the perpetrator who had thrown the slipper that India would not tolerate any lack of respect towards Sanatana Dharma. We can definitely say from this episode that he was a Sanatanist Sanghi,” he said.

Mr. Thiruma Palavan said that the Chief Justice of India, Justice Gavai ‘has taken the ideology of revolutionary Ambedkar’ and the action of throwing a slipper was ‘an act against the Indian constitution’. “Moreover, this incident has insulted the entire judiciary. This is more proof that the high skill of Sanatana troops is all over the country. In these circumstances it is the need for the hour for democratic troops to unite to upgrade Sanatana.”
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K. Selvaperhagai demanded that “appropriate legal steps should be taken against those involved” and that disagreement in a civilized democracy should be expressed by debates, legal means and peaceful methods. ”
