Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori once again thrilled their home fans in Turin on Tuesday as they sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Nitto ATP Finals with another high-octane victory.
The Italians defeated Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos 7-6(4), 6-4 to extend their statement run at the season’s grand final. After dismantling top seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in their opener, Bolelli and Vavassori’s hour and 35-minute victory guaranteed their place in the knockout rounds – a year after falling short in the round-robin stages on their debut.

The turning point came late in a tense first set. Turin-born Vavassori served at 4-4 and fended off three successive break points before setting the Inalpi Arena on fire with a thrilling backhand return winner in the tie-break, taking them to a decisive 4/2 lead that they would not relinquish.
Now unbeaten at 2-0 in the Peter Fleming Group – having won all four sets played – Bolelli and Vavassori will face defending champions Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in their final round-robin clash on Thursday. With their win they also improved to 3-2 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series with Granollers and Zeballos.
With a record of 37-20 this year, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, the Italian duo are building on their impressive 2025 season, highlighted by titles in Adelaide, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Washington.
