The New York Sirenses Announce the addition of Valérie Bois as the newest assistant coach of the team prior to the PWHL season (PWHL) of 2025-26. Bois brings more than a decade of high-level coaching experience in both men’s and women’s hockey, together with a strong passion for the development of athlete. She recently helped with the launch of the Women’s Hockey program at the University of Bishop and served two seasons as an associated coach and two seasons as head coach, which led the Bea to their first U Sports National Championship in 2024-25 in just their fourth season.
“Valérie is really what you would call a career coach all year round,” said Sirens General Manager Pascal Daoust. “She has successfully held both head coach and assistant coaching roles – winning multiple championships – at different levels, with both men’s and DameS teams, sometimes even within the same season. She is passionate about, knowledgeable and deeply dedicated to helping every athlete with which she works their entire potential and will be a natural fit in the culture and values of the new – Familie.”
In addition to her U-Sporter experience, Bois served as an assistant coach for Les Canadiennes de Montréal of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) during the 2018-19 season and went on to the Clarkson Cup final. One of her first career height points came as head coach for LHFDQ Nord and winning the Esso Cup 2013 – Canada’s Women’s U18 National Club Championship. She also served as an assistant coach for Collège Français de Lungueuil and helped the team to a top four finish on the Centennial Cup 2022 – Canada’s National Junior a Championship. Bois also contributed to the program of excellence of Hockey Québec at both the U16 and U18 levels, so that the U18 team led two years in a row to a National Championship (2023 and 2024).
“I am very happy that I am adding myself to the New York Sirens as an assistant coach,” said Bois.
Bois joins the coaching staff of Sirens, consisting of head coach Greg Fargo and colleague assistant -coaches Josh Sciba and Gordon Woodhall. Assistant coaches Mike Sommer and Lauren Williams will not return for the 2025-26 campaign. The Sirens in New York thank Mike and Lauren for their dedication to the team and wish them the very best in their next occasion.
