To say the least, the general public has found the design language of BMW a bit controversial in recent years, largely because of the increasing kidney roster. Well, it seems that BMW has heard the complaints from everyone and resolved the situation … kind of. No, vehicles such as the 4 -series, IX and XM are not i7 do not get smaller front schedules, but BMW’s M Hybrid V8 Race car is. That has to count for something, right?
I know you are probably a bit disappointed, but Chin Up! This is still interesting things, and I am sure that the smaller kidney roster is a welcome addition to many of you. But don’t worry – it retains its BMW iconic glow contour lighting, which means that you can see it very far away at night. No BMW would be complete without that! To complete the front, the M Hybrid V8 also gets new headlights and an adapted splitter to better optimize the air flow.
I’m not going to sit here and tell you that the M Hybrid V8 is now the most beautiful car on the grid (that honor goes to the Cadillac V-series.r or Alpine A424, but it is certainly an improvement compared to the old car.
What is this for?
The new front -end is part of an updated aerodynamic design package for the outside intended to help the car while competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
BMW says that the aerodynamic updates will unlock two benefits for the car. First of all, they will help to perform more consistently in all tracklayouts. This car has run a lot of IMSA and FIA WEC so far, so engineers have been able to determine certain strengths and weaknesses that it has on certain tracks. This new Aero package seems to resolve some of those weaknesses. The second purpose of the air flow upgrades is to improve cooling efficiency.
Apparently tests and development were conducted between BMW M Motorsport ingenuurs and its chassis partners in Dallara in Italy. After private testing sessions, the new and improved M Hybrid V8 will make its first public performance after the FIA WEC “Lone Star Le Mans” Race in Austin, Texas, during a joint test on the America circuit. If everything goes according to plan – including final homologation – the first race in January 2026 will be on the 24 hours of Daytona.
Listen, I know this is not the Redone BMW face news that you probably wanted, but maybe it’s a sign of things coming? Don’t know. You can tell yourself that.
