The global car industry is in a strange place when it comes to electrification. Nobody seems to know what the right step is, because the attitude of consumers changes almost as quickly as government regulations. Yet most car manufacturers are connecting and they are pumped out. Take BMW for example. The Bavarian Automaker just hit a large milestone when it comes to electrification after he had pumped out his three millionth -electrified vehicle. That of course includes both plug-in hybrids and fully electric cars, but it is still a large milestone.
The Auto-Een 330th Plug-in Hybrid-Werd built in the factory of the company in Munich and transferred to a customer in the same city. It is a bit fitting. The 3-series was the best-selling model of BMW for decades and made the company what it is today. Now, in the first half of 2025, more than a quarter of all vehicles supplied were electrified. BMW only expects that number to grow in the future. Over the entire American line-up from BMW Group, including Mini and Rolls-Royce, it sells six EVs and five plug-in hybrids. The company sells even more in other parts of the world, but what does it matter? We are all about America, honey.
Just the newest milestone
Last month BMW put the finishing touches to its 1.5 millionth full electric vehicle – a mini countryman SE – in his factory in Leipzig. It went to a customer in Portugal. Such a song can be a bit difficult in perspective, so BMW did it for us. It says that if all 1.5 million EVs delivered it since it first launched the i3, they would stretch around 4,040 miles. That is about the distance from Munich to New York City. I have done that flight earlier, let me tell you: that is not a short journey.
“With the delivery of the three millionth electrified vehicle, the BMW group has reached another important milestone that underlines the fact that electrified vehicles are an elementary part of our technology-neutral product portfolio,” said Jochen Goller, a spokesperson for BMW, in a statement.
Listen, I know that the entire electric industry is currently in a deep strange place and many car manufacturers go back to their plans for the future. But it is nice to see that one of them is still enthusiastic about what I think it will definitely be the future of industry, or people with red hats like it or not.
