Blue Jays ramp up pursuit of Kyle Tucker as expensive offseason continues

The Toronto Blue Jays have made the most money this season – and there may be more to come.

Four-time All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker remains a free agent, and while nothing is imminent for the outfielder, he has apparently caught the attention of the Blue Jays.

Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reported Tuesday that Toronto is stepping up its efforts to land the Cubs star.

This comes as Tucker was filmed with Blue Jays design hitter and former Houston teammate George Springer at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Tuesday, along with former Astros teammate Michael Brantley.

The Blue Jays can keep an eye on Tucker if he appreciates being on the same team as his friend Springer, and in about a month the two should make the trek about three hours west to the team’s spring training facilities in Dunedin, Florida.

Toronto isn’t the only team pursuing the lanky lefty, who is reportedly looking for a long-term deal worth around $300 million-$400 million.

Tucker, who turns 29 this month, believes he has many suitors, including the Mets who are also reportedly involved with the outfielder.

Former Mets general manager Jim Duquette posted on social media that the Blue Jays, Mets and Dodgers were Tucker’s most aggressive pursuers.

With the Blue Jays nipping at his heels, it seems likely that Toronto will let infielder Bo Bichette walk in free agency after a strong season as a key man for the AL champions.

Toronto has already spent big on pitcher Dylan Cease and Japanese infielder Kazuma Okamoto, making Tucker’s potential fit with the Blue Jays even more intriguing.

The Yankees are among the teams that have signed with Bichette, The Post reported.

Players will start reporting to training camp in about 40 days, so expect the markets for Tucker and other free agents to heat up quickly.
