A white 27-year-old veteran of the Akron fire brigade brought a lawsuit against the city and claimed that he was being unfairly transferred for a promotion in favor of a 49-year-old black woman.
Stop me if this sounds familiar: a 58-year-old white man sues the city because a black woman has gotten the job.
Michael Haas, a 27-year-old veteran of the Akron fire brigade, has filed a lawsuit against the city of Akron and her fire brigade, who claims that he was adopted unfairly For a promotion in favor of the 49-year-old Sierjie Lash, a black woman who was appointed captain.
According to WKYCHaas claims that the “Rule of Five” policy of the city – so that leadership lets the top five candidates choose after interviews – armed to discriminate him based on his age, race and gender.
Haas also argues that the disciplinary file of Lash was deported, so that it could be eligible for the role, referring to a 30-day unpaid suspension in 2023 for coaching out of service in his lawsuit that was destroyed as further proof of the supposed preferential treatment of Lash, while white candidates as he himself received fines.
According to Signal Akron” Lash used to be Akron’s first deputy fire brigade commander of AkronAnd Haas’s lawsuit is almost unique on her; Her name appears 72 times over the 34 pages of the court case.
In his lawsuit, Hass claims that the Chief Leon Henderson of AFD took revenge on him in his court case to benefit the eyelash based on the fact that they are both black.
By the lawsuit: “When considering how he could promote Lash to the district head, Henderson transferred according to the complaint with Natko and Clarence Tucker about how to skip Haas and other qualified candidates for Lash” because of her race and gender, because of her race and gender. The suit also accuses Tucker, who is also a black man, of having a kind of “discriminatory bias” for Lash.
Haas’s lawsuit also requires a permanent order that requires the dismissal or degradation of supervisors that he accuses of discrimination against him and who, according to him, revenge for him instead of investigating his claims, including Henderson, assistant to the mayor for emergency management Josph Natko, the reverded Mayor.
Hass’ lawyer, Bryan Spitz, would only tell Signal Akron That “we have very faith in our complaint. We are committed to obtaining justice in this matter and for all employees.” In the meantime, the spokesperson for the city of Akron refused to comment on an open piece of process.
In addition to the command against Henderson et al, Hass wants to get one of the positions to which he was entitled “, all the negative documentation in his staff to be deported, and a sum of more than $ 25,000 in compensation, he believes that he is due.
Although there seems to be an increase in cases like this, an article from 2019 in Scientific American explained that in reality discrimination, that is, discrimination against white people, is not more often forDespite their feelings.
