Birmingham City agree to sign 10 goals/assist international ahead of Coventry City News: The72 – Football League News

Birmingham City have agreed a deal to sign Abdoulie Manneh from Swedish side Mjallby GiveMeSport.

Birmingham City are expected to be busy in the January transfer window, with momentum building around the activity at St Andrew’s. After a routine FA Cup third round win over Cambridge United, speculation continued to swirl around BCFC’s plans.

Summer signings Phil Neumann and Kyogo Furuhashi have already been linked with possible departures, while a number of players from across Europe are reportedly on the club’s radar.

It appears the Blues are now closing in on their first new signing in January GiveMeSport. Birmingham City appear to have completed a deal to sign Abdoulie Manneh from Swedish side Mjallby.

Coventry City had already been linked with Manneh in November, but BCFC appeared to intervene. Portsmouth also showed interest in the summer.

Who is potential BCFC new boy Abdoulie Manneh?

Manneh may be a familiar name to some after previous links with both Coventry City and Portsmouth. He was set to join Olympiacos in the summer ahead of a move to Pompey, but the deal collapsed when the Greek club changed terms.

The 21-year-old stayed with Mjallby and played a key role in their surprise Allsvenskan title victory. He was mainly used on the left wing, but also centrally as an attacking midfielder or striker, and emerged as a decisive figure in their success.

Manneh is also a full international for Gambia and is making an immediate impression at senior level. Although he is under contract until 2027, his rapidly rising profile makes a move very likely in the near future. As a versatile title winner, he could command a significant return.

It is currently unknown what compensation BCFC will have to pay. Mjallby yes reportedly handed him a £4.25 million price tag last summer.

The end of Lewis Koumas at Birmingham City?

Manneh’s potential arrival at BCFC will likely spell the end of Borrowed saying from Lewis Koumas. Having signed several other Championship clubs in the summer, he has not quite made his mark yet.
