The Big Ten -Basketball Tournament of 2026 is expanding with all 18 teams in the conference, The competition announced on Thursday. The relocation comes after only 15 of the 18 teams of the competition in the first year were included in the Big Ten tournament in the first year that Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington have joined the BIG from the PAC-12.
The tournament starts a day before to house the three new teams. While the men’s tournament starts from 2026, the ladies tournament remains with 15 teams.
Last season, Nebraska, Penn State and Washington ended at the bottom of the Big Ten classification and did not participate in the conference tournament. Minnesota, Northwest, USC, Iowa and Nebraska all ended with an identical 7-13 record in conference game, but the Cornhuskers were omitted because of the Tiebreaker.
Nebraska was on the NCAA tournament bubble in the last weekend of the regular season, but a loss of 83-68 for Iowa derailed his hope of dancing. The Cornhuskers defeat UCF in the title game of the inaugural college basketball crown.
In the 2025-26 season, Purdue is considered the favorite to not only win the BIG, but also to capture the national title. The boiler makers (+900) are the favorite to win the National Title 2026, Per concept kings.
