In the Co-Main event of UFC Paris, fighting Nerd Mauricio Ruffy De Taai-as-Nail’s French lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis.
BSD had broken a two-foot slip in May when he defeated Kyle Prepolec for a discount in the discount, while Ruffy was in a tear since entering the UFC. Unbeaten by three fights with the company and on a seven-fighter win-streak in general.
It was within a minute when Benoit Saint-Denis took the fight down and came on top of Ruffy. It would not be because Ruffy was able to come back. Yet BSD was back on him against the fence, put his way in and got the fight again. Ruffy turned around, but ended up on his back again, allowing Saint-Denis to set up an arm triangle. He didn’t have it and they would end up on the feet again, where an error stopped the action briefly. They would close the round trade in a strong start for the French star.
Round two saw BSD on his back within a minute, but Ruffy had him back up. Maybe a mistake, as when they went down again, it was Saint-Denis on the back of the Brazilian. He got an arm under the chin, and although it didn’t seem like he was in tight, with a little adjustment, Ruffy was stuck. No place to go, unable to fight against the choke, he was forced to tap, giving Benoit Saint-Denis a huge victory at home.
Official result: Benoit Saint-Denis def. Mauricio Ruffy by submission (rear-naked choke), round 2, 2:56
