Benjamin Sesko: The interesting reason why Man United star switched positions to uncover his dream role – Man United News And Transfer News | The People’s Person

It feels like Benjamin Sesko’s New Year’s resolution was to silence his doubters.

With five goals in his last six appearances, the Slovenian has become one of the most in-form strikers in Europe. His goals have netted five crucial league points, suggesting United’s £74 million gamble is starting to pay off.

Many believe that Sesko, who is still only 22, is on a trajectory that will take him to the top, where he belongs.

As anticipation grows over how he will evolve into the ruthless finisher long compared to Erling Haaland, a fascinating revelation has emerged about United’s number 30.

Sesko: I didn’t start as a striker

Speaking about the Within Carrington podcast, Sesko stunned listeners by admitting he didn’t start his football journey as a forward.

“I started as a goalkeeper when I was very young. But when I said a match, I remember, I looked at my father in the middle of the match and said, ‘Father, this is so boring. I have nothing to do in goal,'” Sesko told club media.

“It was difficult for me to see teammates there who couldn’t score a goal… There were also times when I was a goalkeeper, I took the ball, went all over the field and then scored.

“It was a very nice journey. Then I started as a central defender before moving on to striker.”

Intended to lead the line

The switch from goalkeeper to striker turned out to be a masterstroke. Today, Sesko is one of the most exciting attacking talents in Europe, a United player who broke the bank to secure Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Although his start at Old Trafford was shaky, he now seems to have found his rhythm in the M16.

He earned his place in Carrick’s lineup

Intriguingly, Sesko has saved United from the bench, but head coach Michael Carrick has resisted giving him a starting spot for five games.

Nevertheless, the calls for the Slovenian are growing louder from the first whistle in United’s next outing.

And when Everton welcome United under Hill Dickson’s spotlight on Monday evening, the expectation is that Sesko will finally take the lead.
