WILKES-BARRE, PaTony Beltrami earned an easy harness racing victory in the only $10,000 division of the American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Trot at Pocono Downs on Saturday (Nov. 1), while Bruce Baker and Raymond Burt won their respective $7,500 dashes of the AHDC Pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (Nov. 2).
Leading every step with 1-9 chalk Massive Matter, Beltrami posted a 1:56.3 victory in the AHDC Trot. After securing the lead from the pole post, Beltrami rode Massive Matter through fractions of :28.4, :58.2 and 1:27.2 with minimal incoming pressure. Velociraptor (powered by Cote Keim) made a first-over bid from fourth after the half and advanced to the edge, but Massive Matter stayed on the muscle the rest of the time, driving in a 2-1/4 length winner. Big Nudge (Mike Polansky) gave chase from a pocket trip to finish third and Manuka (Rob Krivelin) saved ground for fourth.

Bruce Baker started covering with Redding Hanover the next day for a 1:55.3 victory in the first of two divisions of the AHDC Pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia. Baker finished in fourth place after losing 27.1 in the first quarter to 2-1 favorite Uncle Ted (Yogi Sheridan), before going out and marching towards the leader through a 57.2 half. Redding Hanover got coverage from Western Bayama (Frank Tsipouras) down the backstretch and swelled into the wings as Uncle Ted withstood the pressure for three quarters in 1:26. The pair made equal strides swinging out of the bottom corner, with Baker Redding lifting Hanover from cover and flying past in the stretch to record a two-length victory. Pocket sitter Drinkin Again (Geovany Hernandez) took second, while Try Line (Charles Longo) took third after a ground-saving trip, while Western Bayama settled for fourth.

Howard Birney owns and trains Redding Hanover, an 8-year-old gelding by Mach Three. He paid $9.20 to win.
Raymond Burt inflicted a 23-1 rout in the other AHDC Pace division as he powered Wilson’s Vinner to a 1:54.3 win. Burt rode the cones back, but made steady progress inside as his competitors moved outside to follow cover from Cheese Omelet (Frank Tsipouras), challenging Master Miki (Geovany Hernandez) for the lead. The two battled through splits of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:24.3 before Cheese Omelet staggered through the final turn, causing the outer layer to pile up and lose ground. Burt, meanwhile, moved into a pocket spot behind Master Miki as he came home and raced past on fresh legs to take a 1-3/4 length victory, while 102-1 shot Warrawee
Burt owns and trains Wilsons Vinner, an 8-year-old gelding from Sunshine Beach. He paid $48.20 to win.
