Bella Ridge Golf Club, the newest golf course in Colorado, will be opened for a limited preview game on Monday 6 October. The 18-hole, par-72 championship layout was designed by golf course architect Art Schaupeter on the Rolling Hills of the Podtburg Family’s former dairy farming. Bella Ridge is located between Denver and Fort Collins in the city of Johnstown and plays up to 7,268 meters from the rear t pieces to as short as 3,200 meters with six sets of T pieces to choose from. Schaupeter, a resident of Colorado and designer of TPC Colorado in nearby Berthoud, benefited from the natural movement of the country, because golfers will experience 200 feet height of height during their round. Waving wavy fairways and green environments that reward creativity and precision are surrounded by a picturesque view of the mountains with lung peak towering in the distance.
While the final construction projects around the clubhouse are completed, golfers will enter the building via a temporary entrance with Food and Beverage Limited to Beverage Cart Service. In 2026, Bella Ridge will reveal an excellent practice facility, including a 400-Yard long practice range, a short game area and a practice of 15,000 square feet that is green. Professional instruction will be available for juniors and adults. When the clubhouse is opened, it has a golf simulator for the whole year playing and fun, a well -equipped golf shop and delicious food and drinks in the Virgil lounge.
“This has been an exciting project to be part of. The Podtburgs were committed from day one to build a beautiful public access golf course and my first tour around the site I knew that this country could yield something special,” Schaupeter said. “I think the golf experience will be very fun and interesting for all golfers. Each gap has its own individual character and challenge. Golfers will notice that the course will remain in interest, challenge and pleasure in the course of the round.”
The Northern Colorado Daily-Fee course is equipped with the latest technology, with GPS-Uituest Golf Carts, a fully integrated mobile app to streamline the player experience and ultramodern agronomy equipment to promote water retention and sustainability. The course has a mix of Bluegrass/Rogge Gras Fairways and 007XL Bentgrass Greens.
The idea of building a golf course in the Johnstown area was presented for the first time almost ten years ago and the Podtburgs are a family that has always enjoyed playing together. The family has been owned and operated in Johnstown for more than 45 years.
“As a family that has spent our entire life in Johnstown, Colorado, it is an incredible honor to bring this course to our community,” said Rick Podtburg. “We have deposited for more than eight years in designing and building something very special, and we always felt that this country, with its height changes, lakes and spectacular mountain views, was intended for Golf. Those mountain views became the inspiration behind the name Bella Ridge, a name that will offer both the natural beauty of the real estate, recreation and sustainable experience.”
