The 12-dash program saw a razor-sharp 1:53.4 miles on a windy day in the capital as driver Jason Hughes took four winners. Bee Two Bee ($2.90) was the star of the $5,100 recommended pace in Race 11, sprinting to the top and never looking back for driver Jason Hughes and trainer Ashley Gamester. The eight-year-old Sunshine Beach stallion rolled through fractions of 28, 56.3 and 1:25.4 before stopping the clock in 1:53.4, keeping Merigo Magic (Driven by Adam Merner) at bay with Brookdale Johnny (Paul Langille) in third.
BEE TWO BEES REPEAT
Vernon Bridge’s Donald MacRae and Charlottetown’s Blair Maclauchlan share ownership of the razor-sharp pacer who won his fifth consecutive race. A huge upset came in race 12 when Laughagain Hanover ($43.30) stormed home in 1:57.4 ahead of Hughes and trainer Gamester to light up the board for owners MacRae of Vernon Bridge along with Blair and Eric Maclauchlan. Hughes and Gamester also scored with Lyndale Mr Mac ($6.20) in Race 2 with a 2:03.1 victory for owner David MacDonald. Another expensive winner crossed the line first in Race 4 when Evil Vintage ($21.50) delivered at 2:00 for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson and owner Sandra Lee Stead of Montague.
In Race 3 in memory of Byron and Mary Gamester Pace, Mr Kelly ($2.60) won in 2:00.2 ahead of trainer-driver Merner and owners Marsha Knox, Cory Livingston, Kevin Teasdale and Dustin Macinnis.
Merner continues to lead all trainers in the capital oval with 61 wins and just two cards left in 2025. Pauls Crown ($5.10) occupied the field in race 5, clocking 1:58.4 for trainer Stanley Harper as part of a triple from driver Marc Campbell, who also won with Raising Sand ($2.10) in 2:02 in race 6 for trainer Todd Walsh and Howmac Maximus ($12.90) in race 7 in 1:59 for trainer Tammy Collings.
