Captainofrocknroll takes off from post 1 as Ken Murphy rides for trainer Jennifer Doyle in his first start in Canada after racing in New York. Impeccable Shadow is a top contender from post 2 with Paul Langille on board after winning his last two. Howmac Maximus draws peg 3 ahead of driver Corey MacPherson and trainer Tammy Collings, while Merigo Magic lines up from peg 4 for trainer-driver Adam Merner after hitting the triactor in all his favorite outings. TH Boomtown gets post 5 with Gilles Barrieau handling the lines from Ron Matheson’s shed after winning the Preferred-2 in his last start.
Race favorite Bee Two Bee starts from post 6 with Jason Hughes riding from the Ashley Gamester Stable. The son of Sunshine Beach has won his last five starts at this level and has not played since December 20.
The Backstretch Beat sides with Bee Two Bee.
“Bee Two Bee is on a big roll at the moment and was a dominant gate-to-wire winner last time. He was assigned post six for this start but has won from here before, so we’re calling for a win streak to reach six in a row.”
The $4,200 Open Trot goes into race 7 and features another classic duel between Buckhead Ridge (driven by Barrieau) for trainer Landon Campbell from post 4 and Fight Song (Hughes) from post 5.
The $2,900 PEISHOA Pace is scheduled for race 5 and has Dusty Lane Zoro (Donald MacNeill) first choice from post 5 for trainer Ronnie Gass.
Also on the schedule is top driver Drew Campbell of Maine with a pair of rides after the last race at Plainridge Racecourse in Massachusetts in September. The winner of 6,140 races and $23 million in purses will helm Majestic Mason for trainer Rick Armstrong in race 8 and Doctor Grenfell in race 14 for trainer Nicholas Oakes.
