BCCI tells India women to skip hands presses with Pakistan on World Cup for Women 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the Indian ladies team to avoid handsquits with Pakistan players during the ICC World Cup World Cup 2025. The guideline was communicated before the team left for Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

India -Women opened their campaign with a victory over Sri Lanka in Guwahati and will then be confronted against Pakistan in their second group match, which will be played in Sri Lanka. The two teams only meet at neutral locations in this tournament.

This collision will also mark the fourth consecutive Sunday of an India-Pakistan competition, after the recent Asia cup that was filled with political undertones. During that event, Indian players openly referred to the terror attack of the Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor in POK while they dedicate performances to the armed forces.

The Asia Cup final in Dubai contributed to the tension. India refused to accept the winners of the Asian cricket Council chair chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Pakistani Minister of the Interior and PCB Chief. BCCI later accused Naqvi of completely removing the trophy and appointed the case in an ACC meeting that Indian delegates walked halfway.

Naqvi denied himself to apologize and said he was willing to transfer the trophy, but only from the ACC office. His messages about the controversy have since remembered from viewing in India.

With India women who are now continuing the no-hand shake guideline, the Guwahati victory is the scene for a fiery second collision against Pakistan, where cricket is again played under the shadow of political tension.
