Batumi welcomes the record youth event while ITTF President Development Work emphasizes – International Table Tennis Federation

Batumi again became the center of youth table tennis when the WTT youth candidate Batumi 2025 welcomed around 160 players from 20 member associations. For the fourth time, Georgia organized a stage of the WTT Youth Series, and this year’s edition is the largest so far.

ITTF President Petra Sörling was invited to attend the event and participate in the opening ceremony next to leading guests. Among them were Shalva Gogoladze, Minister of Sport of Georgia; Maia Khajishvili, Minister of Education and Sport of Adjara; Pedro Moura, president of the European Table Tennis Union; Guram Gogoladze, chairman of the Georgian table tennis federation; and Tariel Khechikashvili, president of the International Foundation of Sport, Tourism and Youth.

The event was organized by World Table Tennis and the Georgian Table Tennis Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Sport of Georgia and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

President Sörling praised the efforts of the local organizers and congratulated the Georgian table tennis federation President Guram Gogoladze for his leadership in the growth of sport.

During her visit, President Sörling held meetings with Minister Shalva Gogoladze, Guram Gogoladze and Ettu President Pedro Moura. The discussions were aimed at strengthening cooperation, creating more opportunities for young players and developing the presence of sport in Georgia and the wider region.

“WTT -youth candidate Batumi 2025 shows the role of youth events in shaping the future of table tennis. They help players to gain and grow, and they also help our sport to reach a new audience and inspire more young people to participate,” said ITT -President Petra Sörling.
