Despite not having ridden since mid-September, the 5-year-old gelding son of Resolve-Sensual Hall used a blinding burst of early trotting to reach the top, reaching the quarter in a taxing :27.3. Bartlett was then able to cut the second fraction to :29, while he and his partner reached the halfway point in :56.3.
Jeff Cullipher’s trainee went straight to three-quarters with his stablemate, Outside The Fire, sitting in the two-hole. Chuckthemillionair was now on the move and tried to threaten the leader while racing uncovered, but couldn’t provide much of a challenge as Resolve To Win scored three quarters in 1:26.
Outside The Fire tried in vain to get behind his training partner who was approaching the wire (the pair qualified together on 22 November), but could not threaten as Resolve To Win completed the job with a score of 1¼ lengths in 1:53.3, winning for the 25th time from 85 lifetime attempts.
DECIDE TO WIN REPETITION
Bartlett wasn’t concerned about the dismissal. “He was really good in qualifying [which he won in 1:55]. He’s out of the gate so quickly. I’m in a good place and I know it [Outside The Fire] likes a target, but my horse is a very good horse. I knew they were both similar in how good they would be.
The betting public weren’t worried either, sending Resolve To Win to the gate as 2-1 favorites in the field of 10, and they were rewarded with a $6.20 winning payout. The winner now has a profit of $337,426 for owners Pollack Racing LLC.

The 5-year-old gelding son of Always B Miki-I Got Rhythm swung at three-quarters of cover and charged home to the tune of a:26 final quarter to cross the line three-quarters of a length ahead of the pocketed Sugar Man.
“He exploded off a helmet tonight,” said winning driver Tyler Buter. “He is a super nice horse, I am sure he will get his chance against better horses [down the road].”
