According to a report from WhenBarcelona has been unofficially informed by the city council that their match against Real Sociedad cannot be played in Montjuic later this month.
The reason is linked to the La Merce festivities, where a fireworks show is planned around the Montjuic Fountain area at 10 p.m.
Because Barça’s game would start at 9 p.m., the event would make it impossible for fans to get access to or the stadium.
A race by time
The latter development means that Barcelona is again in a race by De Tijd, because their only chance to reopen the new Camp this month is against Real Sociedad.
But even that remains uncertain. Elena Fort, the vice president of the social area of the club, has already admitted that no one can promise that the stadium will be ready by that time.
The first occupancy document for the works has not yet been submitted and approval from municipal council technicians is required before a competition can take place.
UEFA -Deadline adds more pressure
The challenge goes beyond La Liga. UEFA has set a clear state – for Barcelona to play their Champions League home opener against PSG in Camp Nou, they first have to organize a domestic league match.
This makes the collision with real Sociedad Vitaal. If it doesn’t happen in the new stadium, Barça Loses the opportunity to debut in their rebuilt home in Europe.
