Over the course of the 38-day 2025 meet, Bangor Raceway achieved average daily returns of $101,215, the highest in Bangor history, surpassing the 2024 average ($88,985) by 14% and continuing an upward trajectory that has seen solid year-over-year gains since 2021.
Daily handles in excess of $100,000 have now become a normal expectation at Bangor Raceway, with 20 such occurrences in 2025, compared to 12 $100,000 handles in 2024 and just two in 2023.
Bangor’s average daily purse has grown incrementally 31% since 2021, while the number of races per day has increased 14% and the average daily purse ($41,497 in 2025) has increased 34% over the same period.
“The 2025 harness racing season in Bangor was one for the record books,” said Thomas Smith, Racing Operations Manager for Bangor Raceway. “These results reflect the dedication of our team, the fans and the riders who continue to make Bangor a leader in harness racing in Maine.

Pending approval by the Maine Harness Racing Commission, live harness racing will resume in April 2026 at Bangor Raceway.
