Ballin’ on a Budget: The Nike GT Cut Academy 2 debuts for just $95

Nike Basketball will always prioritize building the best sneakers possible by incorporating the latest performance technology into newly designed silhouettes – something we’re now seeing with models like the GT Future and the upcoming GT Cut 4. That said, basketball shoes that hover around the $200 mark aren’t realistic purchases for many younger hoopers and their families, especially when you consider growing feet and the wear and tear that comes with playing outdoors. The GT Cut Academy line exists to bridge that gap, and Nike is now introducing its second installment with the GT Cut Academy 2.

Built for all positions and all playing surfaces, the GT Cut Academy 2 features Air Zoom cushioning in the forefoot, herringbone traction underfoot and a sleek, low profile that matches what today’s players lean towards.

While the first Academy model borrowed heavily from the GT Cut 2, this sequel more predictably draws inspiration from the GT Cut 3. Durable mesh constructs the heel and medial side, while a separate ventilated panel extends outward from the forefoot for added breathability.

The Nike GT Cut Academy 2 is available now in black/white for just $95, with a number of additional clean, team-friendly options to follow in the coming weeks/months. Check out the upcoming styles below, along with purchase links to Nike.com.
