Baillieu, who founded the Realities Gallery of Melbourne in 1971, moved to Williamstown in 1980 to concentrate on her own painting career.
In the following decades she kept 15 solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, while kept the house as a gathering place for artists, writers and filmmakers.
Her son James remembers a youth formed by creativity.

The spacious kitchen and eating zones of the house were central in decades of family life and creative meetings.
