Every night I do a stretch routine, partly based on what I picked up in books and classes about yoga, and partly based on physiotherapy exercises that I have collected due to rehabilitation of various disorders or injuries. I find it much more relaxing and more fun when I do it consciously, pay attention to every exercise instead of watching TV at the same time. I recommended this here during Covid as a coping strategy.
Unfortunately I am the tendency to come from this habit if there is something special on TV. The last time this happened during the NBA play -offs last year. When they are for the first time, there is a large backlog of games to watch. So I decide that it is temporary to view them while stretching. But the play -offs ended last June and I had not become aware of the routine again so far. So far the excuse “temporary”.
In recent days I have recovered my conscious stretch and again confirmed how relaxing it is. Hopefully I can fight the apologies next time.
This incident motivated me to read more about Mindful Yoga, and I found books about it on Amazon. So I tried it The practice of Mindful Yoga By Hannah Ross. This is a good book with many good tips about injecting mindfulness in your routine. However, I would only recommend those who already have a yoga or stretch routine. Hannah gives a proposed routine at the end of the book, but the instructions are exclusively in text, not photos that are difficult to learn for beginners.
