Back “One Night at the Colosseum”. The Flavo -Mfitheater is told through its protagonists – Rome

Roma – A Gladiator stems from the darkness, ready to sacrifice his life to the judgment of the people, while the Moon surfs a story of lamps, Munera, Venations.
The archaeological park of the Colosseum invites the public to discover the Flavo -Amfitheater at night with the initiative “One night in the Colosseum”. From Tuesday 13 May the night visits will return, available with a guided route of approximately 60 minutes that swings along the first order of the monument, the Arena plan and the basement.
The visits, planned every Tuesday and Thursday from 20 to 24 with the last entry at 10.30 pm, reserved for a maximum of 25 people per turn, will tell the monument with the eyes of the spectators and the protagonists of the shows that did all day.
The route through what Stendhal considered “the most beautiful remains of the Roman people”, will start from the north that is supplied, in ancient times the main entrance of the emperor, and provides a depth analysis of the imperial entrance and the stucco decorations. Here, from the plane of the Arena, you can have a complete picture of the cameea and listen to a story of the shows offered by the emperors.
The walk will continue in the basement at night, where it is possible to explore the new permanent exhibition “Shows in the Colosseum Arena. The protagonists”Edited by Alfonsina Russo, Federica Rinaldi and Barbara Nazzaro. The exhibition retains the strengths of the previous temporary exhibition “Gladiators in the arena. Between Colosseum and Ludus Magnus” And provides a renewed permanent set -up on gladiators and animals that deal with Venationes.

The Set will improve guests with the suggestive holographic projection that the gladiators see the darkness of the eastern cryptoportic (made by Katatexilux about idea and curatorship by Federica Rinaldi), but also with the black -white mosaic of II -century. For visitors it will be an opportunity to admire the copy made by a digital model that is performed with a high precision 3D laser scanner of a relief of COO island saved in the Museum of Antiquity JJ Winckelmann of the municipality of Triëst. He portrays the fight between a Reziatic and a securityur, while a Greek inscription in all probability leads to the dissolution of the contractual limitation of the authoramentum, the sacrament of the divinity with which the Gladiator agreed to risk his life by entering the arena.
Exceptional guest is the lapidean head of “Gallus” Gladiator of the beginning of the first century. DC comes from the amphitheater of Verona and granted on loan from the Archaeological Museum on the Roman theater of the city of Scaliger.
The route ends with a visit to the structure of the underground corridors and with a walk in the moonlight along the catwalk to the western maneuver room.
