Azerbaijan Grand Prix extends Deal until 2030 | Racer

Azerbaijan will organize a world championship Grand Prix until at least the end of 2030 after closing a new four-year-old deal to stay on the Formula 1 calendar.

The 2025 edition of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is the ninth race of a race around the Baku City Circuit, on the banks of the Caspian Sea and the 10th anniversary of the first race of the Nation in 2016, when it was held under the European Grand Prix moniker.

The number of 3.73 mi quickly developed a reputation as a wildcard location. Only one driver, Sergio Perez, has won the event more than once. Charles Leclerc is the only multiple polesitter, with four P1 startingist.

The contract of the event supported by the State would end at the end of next season, but the new deal announced today will ensure that the race will take place until the beginning of the following decade.

“Formula 1 consistently received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the people of Azerbaijan,” said Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. “The circuit is unique, with technical sections and long straight pieces that run through the beautiful coastline and historic old city, which deliver an eventful and entertaining race every year.

“This renewal reflects the strong trust and dedication between Formula 1, the government of Azerbaijani and the promoter, and paves the way for an exciting future in the country.

“I want to thank President Ilham Aliyev and Minister [Farid] Gayibov for their continuous investments and dedication to evolving the event; Anar Alakbarov and the Azerbaijan Automobile Federation for defending Formula 1 in the country; And the Baku City Circuit team for them all year round efforts in delivering an exceptional experience for our fans, drivers and teams. “

Farid Gayibov, the Minister of Youth and Sport, said that the Grand Prix was an integral part of Azerbaijan’s plan to become a “worldwide hub for major sporting events”.

“Over the years, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has grown into one of the most expected races on the F1 calendar, with not only exciting Op-Track action, but also the beauty, energy and hospitality of our capital.

“This expansion confirms our dedication to organizing world -class events and further strengthens the position of Azerbaijan on the international stage.

“Together we will continue to present Baku as a lively world -class sports destination, which welcomes fans from all over the world to experience both the excitement of Formula 1 and the unique spirit of our city and country.”

Three other events will reach the last year of their contract next season: the Grand Prix of the United States in Austin, the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona and the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

Although Austin is expected to stay in the calendar, Barcelona has already been replaced by Madrid as the host of the national event of Spain, although local organizers hope to close an extensive deal.

The Dutch Grand Prix management has already confirmed that it will not look for a contract extension after the following season.
