Avenue Supermarts, which operates hypermarket chain DMart, reported a consolidated net profit of 3.9 percent in the second quarter of FY26 and a revenue increase of 15.4 percent, driven by food sales.
The company reported a net profit of ₹685 crore on revenues of ₹16,676 crore.
Like-for-like growth, a key metric for retailers, slowed to 6.8 percent, compared to 7.1 percent in the first quarter, an indicator of subdued consumer sentiment.
The company said that following the reduction in GST rates on various consumables, it had passed on the benefit of lower rates to all its customers.
Sales revenue per business area fell to ₹8,692 per sq ft in the quarter from ₹8,779 per sq ft in the first quarter.
While EBITDA increased in absolute terms, operating margin fell to 7.3 percent from 7.6 percent a year ago.
The total retail area at the end of the quarter was 17.9 million square meters.
Eight new stores were added during the quarter, bringing the total number to 432 at the end of September.
It added 10 new fulfillment centers in its existing markets and continued to invest and deepen its presence in major metro areas. It said it halted operations in five cities (Amrtisar, Belgavi, Bhilai, Chandigarh and Ghaziabad) during the quarter.
