Tom Trbojevic brought a moving tribute to Diogo Jota, after the Portuguese attacker died tragically on Thursday last week in addition to his brother Andre Silva in a car accident.
Jota, 28, and his brother, Andre, 25, were laid in Portugal on Saturday afternoon in Portugal, with many of the teammates of the Portuguese international from the past and the present who attended the memorial service.
Many had gathered in the Igreja Matriz in Gondomar to pay tribute to the brothers, including Jota’s Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson and Alexis Macallister.
Tribute has continued to flow in from all over the world, with various Aussie sports stars who pay tribute to the Portuguese defender during the weekend.
Carlton star Jesse Motlop started a goal during the 56-point loss of the blues by Collingwood on Friday evening and he went to Jota Hulde by sitting on the floor and doing the video celebration of the attacker.
In the meantime, on Sunday, Trbojevic showed signs of return to his best, while he returned the Sea Eagles to the top eight of the NRL with a 30-12 victory over South Sydney.

Two games in his service from Fullback to Center, Trbojevic scored a double on Sunday in Brookvale Oval and set up another when Manly ran to a 24-0 lead.
After being touched for his first, Trbojevic rose and looked at one of the cameras from FOX Sports, making a two and zero plate with his hands to spell the number 20, Jota’s Liverpool team of Liverpool.
The Footy star then placed his palms together to replicate a ‘prayer’ board and looked at heaven.
He was later praised by fans on social media for the move, with one writes: ‘Tom #trbojevic a Legend of Our NRL game this afternoon and paid tribute to Diogo Jota. Well done turbo to do that, a lot of respect from this male fan. ‘
As part of their tribute to the football player, Liverpool said that Jota’s no 20 shirt will now be ‘immortal’ after his death.
“The No. 20 will rightly be immortalized for its contributions as part of the Liverpool title winners from 2024-25-the 20th of the Club-with his trademark Shimmy and Strike for the headline to seal the victory in the Merseyside Derby in April a moving last goal of his life,” the club said in a statement.
It comes when Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar also brought a moving tribute to Jota after he scored a 101st-minute winner against Philadelphia Union on Saturday.
After the incredible moment, the 30-year-old sat down on the turf and rejoined Jota’s gaming celebration.

Manly, meanwhile, claimed their second consecutive victory against the Rabbitohs on Sunday, what was a crucial two weeks for Anthony Seibold, with the rabbits that now stretch their losing line to six defeats on the bouncing.
The most important care for South Sydney will be Brandon Smith after being brought out of the field late in his return match by a torn front cruciate ligament (ACL).
Smith played his first game in nine months and for the first time for Souths, started and played two short stints before being injured in a tackle.
Smith’s injury came on the same leg that he torn his ACL last August and contributes to what has been a few years of injuries for the Rabbitohs.
Anyway the Rabbitohs are, this was still a crucial victory for Manly, given the noise around the northern beaches of Sydney fourteen days ago.
Seibold said last week that he would reconsider the center of Trbojevic after the Souths game, and wanted his most dangerous man to regain his confidence.
Trbojevic seems to have done that at least, running strength again in what was easy to match since March.
He regularly played a roaming role in the attack and appeared on the left of the field to give Manly an extra song on that side of the field in attack.

The result means that the Sea Eagles have both won from their last two NRL competitions
The first attempt by the Sea Eagles came in this way, with Trbojevic who connected with new No.1 Lehi Hopoate on the left side of the field to send Reuben Garrick.
Trbojevic scored Manly’s next himself when he went to the field again looking for the ball, and pressed by hunting a Daly Cherry-Vans Kick.
At the next game he used the broken line of defense and stepped by two to score.
It was the second attempt by Trbojevic after the break that showed the most promise, when he again took a ball on the left, arrived Infield and beat three to score.
Trbojevic played as a roaming center at a representative level, but questions are stuck about defensive cohesion with two Souths, tries to get to his edge late.
The Sea Eagles have next week for a difficult month against three of the top four of the NRL, and they need Trbojevic Vuren if they want to play finals.
Manly hopes to have Haumole Olakau’atu back as soon as Bye, after a middle led by Matt Lodge, able to destroy Souths’ Better Early Ball on Sunday.
Garrick also scored a double in the victory, while fellow wing player Jason Saab seemed to suffer an injury to the injury.
