August 6, 2025 – Investment versus integrity

Last week a merger between Skydance and Paramount was completed. The entertainment giant now has a portfolio of $ 8 billion, which has interested enough in the National Football League, which is due to a skydance investment.

Last week it was also announced that the 20th Century Fox would buy an investment interest in the Indycar Racing promotion, including an interest in the world-famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

And yesterday it was announced that ESPN NFL Network would buy, a news and entertainment organization that was originally started by the National Football League.

Count your founder whole, very skeptical about a sports network with a property in the competition or entity that deals with it. There is so much that can go wrong when the suits running the sports network try to perform the editorial content of the media company.

Under these regulations, for example, I do not see that ESPN or 60 minutes ever stories about NFL pensioners and their physical struggles against the persistent effects of repeated head injury, or the unwillingness of the competition to offer long-term health care.

I do not see where Fox will have some freedom to cover the types of stories that have appeared in Indycar in recent years with cheating that has taken place in the teams of the Penske organization -the owners of the entire Indycar series.

The conflicts here are amazing.

And book it here: within five years something will happen that question the integrity of an entire competition, and the media companies that collaborate with that competition will be forced to remain silent.

It’s rotten.
