Although we also expand our usual fearless preview to six teams in Division II, we see an umbrella issue within this division in the same way. The question is whether another non-Pennsylvania Division II team will win the national final for a second year.
That is because university teams from the Keystone State have won the Division II championship 27 times since the National Championships were founded in 1981. Last year was a somewhat strange year, in which St. Anselm won the title at a guest location, Limestone, who forever closed its doors forever.
Saint Anselm Will have a lot to do to win a second consecutive championship, because the team graduates its leading scorers in Maddie Davis and Amanda Lewandowski. Junior Meghan Smith, who had only one start last year, is the leading turner of the team (seven goals). If there are a few freshmen to look at, it is Breanna Shorey from Belfast (Maine) and Ayla Lagasse from Biddeford (Maine). Both are competent players who know how to find the goal cage.
The opportunities of West Chester This season are three incoming division I transfers – Lana Hughes from Fairfield, Erin O’Donnell from James Madison and Ciara Margestich, who registered a goal and an assist for St. Josephs last year, including playing a few minutes in the national semifinal victory over North Carolina.
The PSAC must be led by this year Shippenburg. Forward Agus Garibaldi had 18 goals and 10 assists a year ago, leading the team. The Raiders have a nice group of players of some of the best scholastic programs, as well as a handful of transfers. But look for Garibaldi and Carme Caracotche Picone, both inhabitants of Argentina, to wear the load.
Not to be surpassed, Bloomsburg is set for a return to the top of the PSAC -Heap. The Huskies are led by senior attacker Kate Ferguson and Junior Forward Genna Bush. The team will have to rebuild the defense with the graduation of Fullback Meg Barnard.
One of the most important factors of East StroudsburgThe game of recent years was the foreign players. Minke Klijn van Nederland was the leading target scale of the team a year ago and she returns to the front line. She is one of the six offshore players at the Roster this coming season. The team also has an interesting dynamic in the goal cage. Sydney Pope and Jet Vermeulen were stuck in the goal last year and split time while the Warriors made the last four.
Assumption Is also going to get a lot of minutes from three foreign players. However, the two most important scorers for the Greyhounds are Americans: Elle Murray (12 goals) and Julia Carbone (10). Paige Gillette, who played in the goal cage every minute last year, takes a graduate year and comes to the side.
