Toronto – Trainer Kevin Attard Send three undefeated horse-bill of ice, Marcus J and two from hero-in the $ 500,000 Bet365 Summer Stakes (G1T) from Saturday for 2-year-olds, in Woodbine.
The race will be disputed for the first time over a mile on the inner turf, making Post Position a big key to victory, Attard noted.
“I think the postal position will be vital,” said Attard before the draw was held. “That first turn will soon come forward. These horses are not used to navigating two turns. So that is a different element.
“Of the three, Bill of Ice is missing the most speed. In that sense, the other two seem to be a bit tactical. They have a little more early feet than [Bill of Ice] has. So, I think, depending on how the race unfolds, the jockeys can hopefully maneuver them early in an ideal position. It will be interesting, that is certain, and I think a bit of luck will be important on the draw. “
The Summer Stakes is an official Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re in” event. The winner will receive an automatic, cost-paid berth in the $ 1 million (USD) Juvenile Turf (G1) at the Breeders’ Cup 2025 world championships on 31 October 1 on the del Mar.
Two from hero In the summer, a perfect 2-out-2 and sportsoms of $ 97,683 after victories in a $ 116,100 mAIDEN special weight on July 13 over 6 Furlongs on the grass on Woodbine and in the $ 180,500 Bet365 rising free stakes over 6 ½ Furlongs. Rafael Hernandez was in the IJzers for both starts.
“He is one who showed a lot of promise before he once ran,” said Attard. “Of course he broke his girl in an impressive way, came back and won the rising free. It seems that he will run all day. The first time he went to the lead and dictated the race. The last time we tried to teach him a little by taking him from the pace.
“I don’t think the two turns will be a problem for him. He seems to be blooming now, and he has had some good works on the training song in the meantime since his last race. We are clearly very enthusiastic about him.”
Two Out Hero is a War of War Front from the Liam’s Map Mare Song River. Bred by Corser Thoroughbrreds LLC and owned by Al Gold’s Gold Square LLC. Two hero was purchased for $ 240,000 at the yearling sale of September September September September.
The groom of the foal is Elaine Bradbury.

Marcus J Is a serrated Chestnut son of hard-sponnio from the pioneer of the Nile Mare Johansson who won his only career start-a-start of $ 116,600 on the main track on 3 August in Woodbine-for-Owners and Bill Ulwelling, the owners of Mansetti.
“He worked extremely well,” said Attard. “On the way to his first race, he showed a lot of promise. If you get that kind of horses, you are always nervous running out for the first time. But he ran to the works, which is fun and not disappointed. He has had some good works since then.
“He seems like a horse that has a very high ceiling, a lot of ability. I am pretty excited. Of course he is a Canadian bred to start. So I am happy to have him in the shed, and he is bred to stretch out hard. He also has to wear the turf.”
Bred by Colin Davis’ Abricot Valley Thoroughbreds from Cobourg, on, Marcus J was bought for $ 60,000 at the Keeneland Fokstock from 2024 November.
The groom of Marcus J is Mark Walcott.

PipA home son of Constitution from the Super Saver Mare Polly Freeze, won its $ 115.100 MAIDEN SPECIAL Weight event through a head of more than 1/16th miles on the inner peat on 24 August in Woodbine with Pietro Moran Up.
“Bill of Ice broke his girl the first time he went two turns and is probably the only horse in the race with that experience on that turf course,” said Attard. “So I think that is always a bonus. He was pretty professional when he won and he clearly comes from a good female family and has a great family tree. We hope he will continue to improve.”
The foal is a full brother of Graded Insurance winner Americanrevolution, who earned $ 1,286,810 and won the degree 1 $ 750,000 cigar miles in aqueduct in December 2021 for trainer Todd Pletcher. Bill of Ice is also a half -brother for hard spun regulated packs winning Colt Bold Journey, a winner of $ 824,043 for trainer Bill Mott.
Bill of ICE is owned by his breeders Fred Hertrich III and John Fielding after being at $ 150,000 during the year-old sale of September September and at both the Ocala Breeders’ march sales of two-year-olds ($ 200,000 RNA) and the phasig-TipTon Midatlantic Two-year-olds).
“Of course they had high expectations with his family, and it was nice to see him start on the right foot,” said Attard.
“Mentally, he has the right attitude. He continues his business quite professionally, and he did that when he racet … He trained well in the meantime, he had a nice little work on Saturday. From a time perspective it was slow, but I thought he went the next, improvement.”
The groom of Bill of Ice is Christopher Escoffery.
Trainer Charlie Appleby will also send Godolphin HomeBred Wild desert (Ire) In the summer tires.
The son of Too Darn Hot (GB) from the new approach (Ire) Mare Winters Moon (IRE) has a record of 1-1-1 in three Starts and won the Betfred supports Jack Berry House Novice Stakes in his career debut on 25 May on Haydock. In his last start, Wild Desert (Ire) was disturbed and finished third in the surplus bets in Newmarket.
“We were very happy with his run in Newmarket in the superlative effort and he will have learned a lot from the experience,” said Appleby. “He has shown a good attitude in all his races. Even when he was impeded at his last start, he remained Gamely.
“This horse has not yet raced, so this will be another learning curve for him. He has also worked well and is from an exceptional family, so we hope he can win his first group victory [at Woodbine]. “
