Atlas Valley Golf Club with 15th Gam ladies four ball

Grand Blanc-de Historical Course of Atlas Valley Golf Club will organize much of the best amateur-feminine golfers in the State Monday and Tuesday 11-12 August in the 15th Gam Women’s Four-Ball Championship presented by Saint John’s Resort.

Two-golf teams will compete in four-ball or Best-Ball battles games over 36 holes. Championship teams are determined in the General Division (Age 49-and-under) and the Senior Division (50-and-over).

Atlas Valley, formerly known as Atlas Valley Country Club, is a semi-private facility with a course originally designed in 1912 by the legendary architect Tom Bendelow, a productive designer of more than 600 tracks, including the famous East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta CHAG.

Bendelow’s Nature Research approach to Design is clearly in the course in Atlas Valley that is built on around 150 hectares of rolling, picturesque country. Kearsley Creek winds through the track.

Since the change of ownership in recent years, a considerable renovation has the clubhouse outside and interior, eating and banquet facilities, irrigation on the course, course bunkers and carpins. A tree removal program was also implemented.

Last year in Boulder Creek Golf Club in Grand Rapids, Elise Fennell from Caledonia and Jessica Jolly van Rockford won the General Division, and Joan Garety van Ada and Terry Delcamp, formerly from Grand Blanc, won an unprecedented eighth senior division title.

Delcamp and Garety are entered and start after another title. Fennell and Jolly are not being introduced this year.

The general and senior winning teams will have registered their names on the permanent tournament trophy, which is mentioned The Garety/Hiestand Trophy In honor of Garety and colleague Michigan Golf Hall of Fame member Mary Jane Hiestand.
