Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap: McCabe’s big competition not enough, while Cingstones win

(62-79) Gwinnett Stripers 4, (78-61) Nashville Sounds 6

• Carlos Rodríguez, LF: 1-Uit-5, R, .247/.322/.326

• Jesùs Bastidas, SS: 1-out-4, R, BB, .259/.350/.417

• David McCabe, 1b: 3-out-5, 2 RBI, 2B, .236/.329/.361

• Carlos Carrasco, SP: 5.2IP 6H 2ER 2BB 2K, 3.56 ERA

After a very disputed match, the stripers fall against the Nashville sounds. It was a strongly pitched match of Carlos Carrasco who came up with a little problems, but had control most of his start, inducing weak contact and navigated by six strong innings where he gave only two earned points. Carlos left the game with the management and was replaced by Hunter Stratton in the sixth inning. Hunter struggled, so that an undeserved run could score, and two singles, without taking an out. With runners on 1 and 3rd he was replaced by Rolddy Muñoz who ended the threat and held the game after six 3-3. Rolddy would come back there for the seventh and look good, outside one pitch to Freddy Zamora who once again housed the game at 4-4 (on a ball that scraped the wall – 329 ‘). Davis Daniel would come in and a flawless 8th works, before giving up a two run Homer run in the ninth inning to give the game to the sounds.

Offensive it was a relatively solid night for the stripers, who recorded 10 hits with two extra basehits. Eventually 2-out-8 go with runners in a score position and nine pries of basin was the nail in the coffin, but they hit the ball relatively well. David McCabe got the good things in the first inning with these two runs doubles.

Gift Bunnell received the stripers back on the board with an RBI single in the sixth inning that gave the stripers a 3-2 lead. With the game tied again for 3 years, a bases full of two out, momentum waved back in favor of the stripers who gave them a 4-3 lead. Unfortunately they were unable to meet the power of the sounds that homede twice in the last three innings to win.

(58-74) Columbus Clingstones 3, (66-69) Pensacola Blue Wahoos 2-F/10

• Patrick Clohisy, CF: 2-out-4, r, 2 SB, .265/.327/.388

• John Gil, SS: 1-out-4, .154/.154/.154

• EJ Exposito, DH: 1-out-4, r, .222/.259/.340

• Cody Milligan, LF: 1-out-4, r, .190/.329/.257

• Landon Harper, p: 6.1ip 5h 2er 1bb 4k, 3.59 ERA

Cory Wall (2.2IP 2H 0R 1BB 4K) got the start and while he encountered some traffic, he worked almost three innings relatively stress -free. He was removed in the third after he was the second and was replaced by Landon Harper, who took a wonderful season with six innings from two run baseball and took his fifth victory of the season. In a season in which he has shifted a number of times between starting and relief, it is only logical that his last outing of the season played both roles with him – almost like a starter from the bullpen. Through those six innings, he allowed only one extra single and kept the Fingstones in the game. He was relieved by Tyler Laporte (1IP 0R 0BB 1K) who worked a flawless last inning (starting with a runner on the second and no outs!) – earning the first salvation of the season for him.

Offensing it was a small ball to bring the track down, while the holding stones 0-out-4 went with runners in a score position, but still took the victory. Adam Zebrowski took the first run of the game, in the first inning, with a sacrificial battle that Patrick Clohisy scored. Patrick had exhibited a single, stolen second and then took third on a passed ball so that he could get on the SAC fly. In the fourth it was a sacrificial fly, this time by Cal Conley, who scored EJ Exposito, who previously hit and first went to third place on a single by Cody Milligan. And finally, in the 10th, just like the rest of the game, Cody Milligan started as the Ghost Runner in second place, finished third on a groundout by Cal Conley and scored on a land of Ambioris Tavarez to lead Columbus.
