The Astros call out outfielder Zach Cole For tonight’s series opener in Atlanta, reports Brian McTaggart from MLB.com. Houston must select his contract and make corresponding movements for both active and 40-man grilles.
Cole was a 10th round choice from the ball state in 2022. He had a rare Power-Speed combination for a Hitter that was selected in the design, especially one of the university. That reflected considerable fear from scouts about the pure decisiveness of Cole. He has posted alarming rule percentages during his career of the Minor League, but his bottom line production has been strong at every stop.
The left-handed stroke Cole has a .249/.357/.469 slash about parts of four minor League seasons. That includes a .279/.377/.539 with 19 gays and 18 stolen bases in 97 games this year. Cole spent most of the year in Double-A. Houston just promoted him to Triple-A two weeks ago. He was then planned to go to the Arizona Fall League, but instead forced his way to the Majors by. 353 with five gays in his first 15 Triple-A matches.
The Breakout season of Cole is still supplied with a strikeout percentage above 35%. It is very difficult to find consistent success with that level of Swing-and-Miss, which will probably only increase against the pitching of the main class. Houston does not have to play him every day. Cole can handle all three outfield positions and brings an intriguing tool set to the sofa of Joe Espada.
Houston called Caesar Salazar A few weeks ago then Victor Caratini Wash down with a concussion. Salazar has stuck on the active schedule since Caratini returned but does not play much. Cole can offer more speed and come from the bank. Taylor Trammell Did not hit well (.202/.302/.349 in 48 games) as a Lefty-Hitting fourth outfielder, so that the Astros could also exchange it for Cole. They should point out to him for an assignment to do that, because Trammell is outside the options of the Minor League.
