Aston Villa finally came off the line by beating Fulham for their first victory of the Premier League campaign.
The side of Unai Emery arrived in the game on Sunday in Villa Park with only three points of their opening of three games and achieved a bad start against the Cottagers.
Raul Jimenez struck early to make the visitors move forward, but the striker of the striker was terminated prematurely when he was forced with injury from the field and was replaced by Adama Traore.
From there it went completely wrong for Fulham. Josh King was booked for simulation for the second week in a row before Ollie Watkins Bernd Leno lobed for his first goal of the season.
Villa was a much improved team in the second half and let it count on the Scoreline, with John McGinn and EMI Buendia both just found it to complete a 3-1 victory.
“That feels nice,” McGinn told Sky Sports. ‘With wolves [drawing against Spurs]You have the table. We start playing much better and today was so important.
“You have a moment when you can feel the pressure, but everyone put themselves in the effort.
“We have praised a lot in recent seasons; you take the highlights and lows. The criticism has been earned; it has not been good enough.”
Asked if Villa is back on their best, the Villa captain replied: ‘Not entirely. There are more signs that we are coming back. Today was a huge effort. Bologna lets you run and the turnaround is fast.
“Everyone has submitted a shift and that is what is needed. We are on the road.”
