Aston Villa 0 Newcastle 0 – Match – Reviews and comments about all Newcastle United players

We asked ‘Matt Busby told Joe Harvey’ to give us his match reviews and comments from players after Aston Villa 0 Newcastle 0.

Newcastle United comfortably the better team.

Especially in a first half they dominated and had the opportunities to win the game.

Villa had a bit of an attempt after the break, but united well at the back, after which Konsa’s red card saw that Newcastle was unable to take advantage of the last 24 minutes.

Match reviews:

Pope – 8

Kicking still rope, but got up well when he was called in action, with three decent saves in the second half. Looked insured.

Trippier – 8

Very good, very composed, more in the first half.

Schar – 8

Well played.

A few great Crossfield fit and it is a pity that one of the best tackles of the day of BDB was at WOR FAB.

Burning – 8

Excellent.

Limited Watkins to a single shot in ninety minutes. He continues to improve.

Livramento – 8

Did it do well. McGinn kept relatively quiet, which is not easy task.

Well coupled with Elanga, especially the first half.

Joelinton – 6

Warrior as usual and was a pity to pick up that yellow. Faded second half.

Tonals – 7

The best of our midfield trio.

Unbelievable how much soil this guy covers.

Guimaraes – 6

Was not on the races until Villa went to ten men.

The first half he was out of the pace, caught in possession and sloppy. However, I still love him!

The garden –

Should have scored early. Not as bad as Jon Dahl Thomason at the Gallowgate during his debut, but the Swede will certainly miss that gilded opportunity.

Was immediately, better in the first half, but then most of his teammates were.

Gordon – 8

Walked in the ground after Eddie Howe had no other option than to play top.

Felled questions from their keeper who had to make a few decent saves after shooting, but that they should have done better early from a Barnes cross.

His pace forced the fault of Konsa who gave us a huge opportunity to win the game.

Barnes – 6

Delivered a few excellent crosses for Gordon and Elanga in the first half, but faded in the second.

Unfortunately to see a huge shot at the end of Matty Cash’s Central reef.

Subs

Murphy – 5

Come over with only 12 minutes, but did nothing about consequence.

Miley – NVT

Not long enough to judge.

OSULA – NVT

Not long enough to judge.

Not much point to apply the boy to 90 minutes and normally said he was not long enough, but at least he worked for himself and was unlucky to see his curly effort cannon of Mings’ head.
