Sri Lanka surpassed Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi to claim a six-wicket victory in the Asia Cup. Pathum Nissanka’s fast half century and the unbeaten knock of Kamil Mishara sealed the chase after early damage due to their pace attack.
Bangladesh Crumble after early strokes
Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera set the tone with fiery new ball spells. Both fired the Bangladesh openers for ducks, making them run on 2 to 2. Towhid Hridoy’s run-out, made it worse when the scoreboard 11 read for 3.
Skipper Litton Das tried to stabilize the innings, but fell 28. Wanindu Hasaranga struck twice and removed him and Mahedi Hasan. Bangladesh stared at a collapse on 53 for 5.
Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain then fought back with an unbeaten 86-run position. Jaker did not matter 41, while Shamim Top did not score with 42, their side to 139 for 5 in 20 overs.
Nissanka, Lead Lead easy chase
Sri Lanka chased 140 and lost Kusal Mendis early at Mustafizur Rahman. But Nissanka has been supplied in style. He hit 50 out of 34 balls with six four and a six.
He found strong support in Kamil Mishara, who played with confidence. The duo added 95 points for the second Wicket and broke the spirit of Bangladesh.
Although Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Sakib have picked Wickets to create some hope, Sri Lanka never were in trouble. Mishara remained unbeaten on 46 from 32 balls and ended the track at skipper Charith Asalanka.
With the victory, Sri Lanka took two points and continued their dominance in the “Naagin Derby” against their Asian rivals.
