Asia Cup 2025: “Even when the Indo -Pak -relationships were worse, we are still shaking the hand” -Pakistan Captain Salman Agha’s Botte to take Sunday’s final

Pakistan will look at the winning series of India in the Asia Cup 2025 when the two arch rivals are in the final in the final in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday 28 September. Salman Aghas Men have been beaten twice this year by India in the competition. They lost with seven wickets in the group stage before they had a six wicket defeat in the Super 4S.

Apart from India’s domination against Pakistan in the two games, the men in blue have no shaking hands with their Pakistani counterparts received a lot of attention. This started with the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav who did not shook his opposite number during the Worp for the group stage. After India won the game, they went back to the dressing room and did not come to the field for the usual handshakes. The same trend followed in the super-4 collision.

When asked to give his reactions to the stand of India not to shake with Pakistani players, Salman Agha said that this tradition was followed, even when the relationships between the two countries were worse. The all-rounder referred to the Pahalgam attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor, which has considerably tense the relationship between the two neighboring nations.

“I started playing U16 cricket in 2007. I never saw teams that don’t shake hands. Even when Indo-Pak relationships were worse, we still shake hands,” said Agha in the press conference before the game in Dubai.

Speaking about the defeats to India earlier in the tournament, Agha said that his team made more mistakes than the men in blue, and that is why they ended up on the losing side.

“India versus Pakistan matches are supplied with luggage of pressure. In the last two games we lost because we made more mistakes,” said Pakistan’s captain.

India won six games in the tournament on their way to the final. In the meantime, Pakistan has won four and lost two games. Agha believes that both teams will have to do with pressure in the most important final.

“The final brings the same pressure on both teams. We don’t care what the Indian media say. For us it’s only about doing the base,” he said.

Salman Agha treats a gloomy shape with the bat

The 31-year-old has difficulty delivering the bat in the Asia Cup 2025. He has only aggregated 64 points in six innings with an average of 12.8 and a success rate of 78.05. Agha admitted that he was not able to contribute as much with the bat as he had hoped.

“Yes, I did not perform well and my strike-rate has not been on the point. It is not necessary to hit 150 strike speed, but to play according to the requirement of the situation,” he said.
