Deep Dasgupta was of the opinion that Pakistan has not played a good cricket in recent years, even though they have a few good players in their ranks. The former Wicketkeeper of India, however, warned that Suryakumar Yadav and Co. Not complacent if they would take on the men in Green in competition no. 2 of the super-four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup on Sunday 21 September in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
India had registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Pakistan last week in the group stage in Dubai. Salman Aghas Men had to defeat the of a do-or-that collision to continue to the Super Four. On Sunday, Pakistan will take revenge on their arch rivals and put them under pressure to qualify for the final.
“Pakistan has not played a good cricket for a few years now. They have good individual players, but they have not clicked as a unit. Having said that, they are always dangerous, and in this format you cannot do anyone lightly,” Dasgupta was quoted by saying India today prior to Sunday’s collision.
“At the moment there is still a clear difference in quality between India and Pakistan, but Pakistan remains a dangerous side,” he added.
Dasgupta believes that Pakistan should come up with better plans prior to their meeting with the Indian spin duo – Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy. The cricket player commentator noted that the Pakistan stroke people had no idea while they were confronted against Kuldeep and Varun in the previous meeting.
“They just had no idea against Kuldeep and Varun. I am sure they will prepare better this time. Hopefully the headlines will come from the cricket field and not get rid of it,” Dasgupta analyzed.
I still have a lot of faith in him (Shubman Gill): Dasgupta
Shubman Gill was appointed as the India’s T20i Vice captain prior to the Asia Cup. The Punjabbeslag has not been able to live up to its reputation so far in the Asia cup. In three innings he has only aggregated 35 runs on an average of 17.50. Dasgupta, however, urged fans to give him a little more time to get himself in T20 mode after playing exemplary cricket during the recent Anderson-Detulkar trophy in England.
“This (T20) is a risky size with a high risk. Gill has made a few technical adjustments for cricket with red ball, and that has given him success. But to switch back (to T20’s) takes time. He is quality, not two ways to go back to his old self.
