India defeated Oman with 21 points in their last group A Clash of the Asia Cup 2025 in Abu Dhabi on Thursday 19 September. A competition was expected to be one -sided, but Oman did a strong performance in the second innings. India’s experience, however, ensured that they ended the competition stage with three wins and three losses.
India chose to hit first and experimented with their line-up in this dead rubber, resting Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy while handing over opportunities to start Rana and Arshdep Singh. The match started with ABHISHEK Sharma and hit 38 on just 15 balls with five four and two sixes. His approach gave India a flying start, because 60 runs entered the Power Play. He was eventually fired by Jiten Ramanandi.
Sanju Samson anchored the innings with a 56 discount on 45 deliveries. Although he started slowly, Samson showed his sparkle against Oman’s spinners. His resignation in the 18th, however, kept the urge of the team for a big finish.
Come from Axar Patel (26 out of 13) and Tilak Varma (29 out of 18) ensured that the men reached the blue 188/8. Oman’s Bowlers, including Shah Faisal (2/23), Jiten Ramanandi (2/33) and veteran Aamir Kaleem (2/31), shared six Wickets.
Oman looked at 189, thanks to their opening position of 56 between Captain Jatinder Singh (32 out of 33) and Aamir Kaleem. Kaleem then collaborated with Hammad Mirza. Kaleem’s 64 out of 46 balls, peppered with seven four and two sixs, kept Oman in the game, while Mirza brought in with 51 out of 33. However, as soon as Kuldeep Yadav Kaleem and Hardik Pandya removed Mirza, the defending champions removed back in the game. Oman finally closed on 167/4 in 20 overs and falls short with 21 points.
