The race and subsequent events were postponed by up to 40 minutes due to lightning and heavy rain showers that may have upset some young people.
However, Arrhythmia had no such problems as driver Cameron allowed Hart to take over the run from stablemate One Millie, who opted to follow the course.
ARYHTHMIE DEC 13 REPETITION
Bettor Beach, who had disrupted arrhythmia in her Heat last week, was one wide early, but driver Kate Gath opted to go three wide down the straight but she started to paddle into the final corner. One Millie who had the perfect run attempted a straightening challenge, but Arrhythmia picked up too many weapons for One Millie with just under three meters, while Willows Girl finished a fair third.
Trainer Emma Stewart had seven of the twelve finalists and managed to secure the first five placements. Previously she had success with Captain Perfect in the three-year Breeders Final and also competed in the opening event with top pacer Petracca (Captaintreacherous) who won the open class in style.
Driver Cameron Hart was full of praise for Arrhythmia after the event.
She had a tough run in the VicBred final for two-year-olds. She was huge for a two-year-old filly. It took its toll on her (in the last few weeks). They got her into the finals. She was there tonight. All credit to Emma, she was just so sharp. I didn’t let her sleep in the heat that often. She was working all the way tonight. She came out of the gate nice and sharp. She felt I could control that first part of the race. Once Kate’s filly got around I felt confident I had a nice easy lead. Tonight she felt very sharply along the straight back. I didn’t let her drop out. When I asked her to join the 400, she had that turn that she had shown in her previous starts.
She makes me feel great. I just love the racehorse that she is. That toughness was evident in the VicBred Final and tonight she exploded with that good foot movement.
I think she can be a good Oaks filly, she has all the manners and all the skills and hopefully we can get some big wins in her three year old year.
It turned out to be a great night for Hart as he guided Petracca to an easy victory in the Open Class earlier in the evening. He later teamed up with star filly Beach Diamond (Somebeachsomewhere) who, despite a tough run, was classy to win the Nutrine Equine Breeders Classic for three-year-old fillies.
The night got better for Stewart as she trained the brilliant colt Loucasso (Sweet Lou) alongside Beach Diamond to win the IRT Breeders Crown for two-year-old stallions and geldings, sweeping the entire Pacers Breeders Crown Series.
