Names like Logan Stanley, Gustav Nyquist and Luke Schenn have been mentioned for over a month now as Jets players listen to offers, but Schenn’s name keeps popping up, especially again today from Johnston.
“They have a lot of defenders and it’s pretty clear that Luke Schenn is one of the pieces they have dangling; he’s another player I could see being dealt in relatively short order,” Johnston said on the Chris Johnston Show.
If the Jets try to move Schenn, which they clearly do, the goal would be to get at least a third-round draft pick in return. Kevin Cheveldayoff had to give up a second in 2026 and a fourth in 2027 to take on the 36-year-old’s $2.75 million cap hit, which has clearly turned into an overpayment. If Cheveldayoff can earn back a pick for him, it will be at least a partial victory.
Schenn has one goal and five assists in 35 games this season, while recording 45 goals and 166 assists in 1,107 career games.
Trocheck scored 11 goals and 21 assists in 37 games this season and has totaled 234 goals and 376 assists in 838 NHL games.
