Canadian coach Jon Cooper just confirmed it #NHLJets D Josh Morrissey will NOT play in the gold medal game due to injury. His Olympic Games consisted of one period. This was clearly a setback. Cooper says he is devastated for Morrissey, especially after the 4 Nations Final illness.

“Oh my god. That’s a tough one,” said Cooper. “This is a year where we’ve had the same conversation and I feel for him. He’s just a kid of all worlds and a great hockey player.”

The Puck Drop is scheduled for an early CT of 7:10 AM.

On the other hand, Jets defenseman Neal Pionk skated in a regular jersey for the first time during the club’s practice on Saturday. Head coach Scott Arniel also provided good news, saying the 30-year-old will be ready for the Jets’ first game back after the break next Wednesday in Vancouver against the Canucks.

Arniel, however, was less certain about Morrissey’s status.

“We’re bringing him home here and we’ll find out in the next few days.”

The Jets have the day off on Sunday and many players will likely tune in for the gold medal game.
