Arkansas fires football coach Sam Pittman after an eruption loss

The Arkansas Razorbacks fired main football coach Sam Pittman and called Bobby Petrino the interim head coach on Sunday after the crooked loss of the team for Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The razorbacks had no answer to the Fighting Irish attack in the defeat of 56-13. Notre Dame placed 42 points on Arkansas in the first half. Quarterback CJ Carr had four touchdown -passes and Jeremiyah Love ran for two scores.

The loss fell to 2-3 in the year, but apparently it was the last drop for the university.

“I want to thank Coach Pittman for his service and dedication at the University of Arkansas during his time as head coach,” said athletics director Hunter Yurachek in a statement. “From day 1 you could see how much this opportunity meant for him. At the moment, however, I think a change is needed to place our student athletes and program in the best position to be successful.

“The aim of our football program is to be very competitive within the Southeastern Conference and to compete for a national championship. While we continue in the process of finding our next head coach, I am sure that we can offer the necessary resources to our employees and team to achieve our goals.

Pittman was 32-24 since he took the track in Arkansas in 2020. The team made three bowl competitions and won each of them. The Razorbacks were 7-6 last season and won the Liberty Bowl.

Petrino coached from 2008 to 2011 in Arkansas. He was fired before the 2012 season officially started after a motor crash caused a scandal in the program.

He was the last head coach in Louisville in 2018. He is 119-56 in 14 years as a head coach in the University Football.
