Are fighters paid less in the Paramount & UFC deal? UFC Insider explains

Responses to the pioneering deal from UFC with Paramount have generated a whole series of responses.

On Monday, the news that Paramount had set no less than $ 7.7 billion to become the exclusive streaming house of the events of the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2026 – including premium numbered events that will be available as part of the monthly subscription service.

That little news alone was enough for Vecht fans to rejoice.

However, there is much talk about how eliminating the outdated pay-per-view model will influence hunters. Traditionally received UFC championship and top stars PPV points as part of their contract. In essence, it enables fighters to earn a bonus based on the buyer of a certain PPV event. The more people buy it, the more money the athlete takes home.

With ppv essentially eliminated from 2026, does that mean that hunters lose hundreds of thousands of dollars? Although a UFC legend suggests that that could be the case, triple UFC title Challenger Chael Sonnen is not even.

“The idea that hunters would be paid less? Fighters have never been paid less,” said Sonnen via His YouTube channel. “And that includes years that the company has made less. If your conclusion is that fighters will now make less-while you receive the gift that you no longer pay for pay-per-views-dan, I have the feeling that you have missed the point enormously.

“There is never a time in history, including the years that the UFC lost money, where year-on-year hunters did not go up. That was not negotiated. That was done by the office that said:” Hey, assigns more money to these guys. “The idea that you know what an MMA hunter makes is false.”

After the new episode of Tuesday from the Contender Series by Dana White, the UFC -CEO briefly paid some of the worries around with hunters, which revealed that bonuses “clearly” go up.

“Listen, I’m not going to have any comments about that, because we still have to come together and pick this stuff,” White told reporters on the Competition series to rock On Tuesday. “It is August, we have to sort out that stuff until January. But the low -hanging fruit that is easy to answer? Bonuses are clearly going up. So that will be great. Forget the tide that rises with all other hunters, only the number that the bonuses bring to a fighter is millions of dollars.”
