Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September 2025 Aquileia is housing the second edition of “Aquileia Splendida Civitas”, a historic re -actment that takes place in the fourth century in the era of the Frigido, a decisive moment in Roman history, who will relate to a hundred Romese History and will beguensile “Immenieveoren” Ansensive “Ansensive” Immenative “Ansensive” Immsi -Factors ” Territory. The event is promoted by the Aquileia Foundation as part of the Rimrom project, funded by the European Union via the Fund for Kleine GO projects! 2025 of the Interreg VI-a Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 program. During the two days, a Roman camp in Piazza Patriarcato will be set up, numerous teaching activities, demonstrations, shows and moments of historical entertainment that cover various aspects of Roman life: gladiators’ armor (inspired by the forms of the fourth century), ancient table games, demonstrations of artisan techniques such as the processing of buckles, the use of the Meridiane, drawing for children, mosaic, portrait, Roman, cuisine, Roman Religie (van het heidendom tot het christendom), militaire en civiele kleding van het late oude tijdperk, weven, oud schrijven en zelfs de concrete ervaring van boogschieten, lancering van de speer en Plumbata. On Saturday, the program includes the opening of the camp from 10 to 19, moments of teaching, shows such as Gladiature and Dances, Religious and Civil Themed shows, Archery exercises, workshops, tastings with the “Archeo-Cucina” to reveal the lost flavors of late antiquity (free from reservation, limited places). On Sunday, the intensity remains high with similar activities until the early afternoon, culminating in the parade and historical representation of the Battle of the Frigido: the collision of September 394 that saw the troops of the Emperor Theodosius I, Cristiano and that of the usurper Eugenio, with fundamental consequences for the history of the Roman Empire. “Aquileia Splendida Civitas” proposes not only, but also a cultural reconstruction that places the history, memory, art and old flavors in the center, involving a large audience: enthusiasts of history, families, school children, curious.
