To Social Media Platform X said Cook: “Say hello to Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Apple Koregaon Park in Pune! We are delighted to keep the best from Apple to customers in India in these two new stores.” The announcement comes against the background of current trade negotiations between India and the United States. Minister of Foreign Affairs S Jaishankar had said in May that trade discussions were still underway, and emphasized that every deal must be mutual.
“About the commercial remarks. Let me say that the gaze between India and the American commercial conversations are going on, there are negotiations going on. In fact, we have that, I think our team is only going at the moment. These are very complicated negotiations. They are very complicated, complicated,” he said. He added that no decision had been made yet and warned for premature judgments. “Nothing is decided, you know. But every trade agreement, every trade agreement must be more beneficial for mutual. Every trade agreement must work for both countries, and I think that our expectation of the trade agreement would be and until that is done, I think an opinion would be premature,” he said.
The commercial negotiations were also emphasized by the then US President Donald Trump, who claimed that India had offered the US an almost non-Tariff deal on a mutual basis. “They offered us a deal where we are actually willing not to apply for a rate,” Trump said while addressing a press conference in Doha. Trump also spoke to the production plans of Apple CEO Tim Cook and urged him to expand the production in the US instead of India.
“Ik had gisteren een klein probleem met Tim Cook. Ik zei tegen hem, mijn vriend, ik behandel je heel goed. Je bedenkt $ 500 miljard, maar nu hoor ik dat je in heel India aan het bouwen bent. Ik wil niet dat je in India bouwt. Je kunt in India bouwen, als je voor India wilt zorgen voor India omdat India voor India wilt zorgen voor India omdat India voor India wilt zorgen voor India omdat India voor India wilt zorgen voor India, omdat India een Of the highest rates in the world, so it’s very difficult to sell in India, “said Trump. India is worldwide as the fourth largest market in Apple in 2024, after the US, China and Japan.
