Hollywood, FL – Antonio Carlos Junior has been here before, in one PFL Final tournament.
In 2021, “Shoeface” won the PFL Global Season at Light Heavyweight. This year it is the PFL World Tournament, where Carlos Junior stands opposite Sullivan Cauley in the final at PFL Hollywod on Thursday evening.
“It’s good to be back here in a different final. Every fight is different, sometimes a different feeling,” Acj told Cageside Press during this week’s media session in Hollywood, Florida. “Especially getting the belt and all the injuries I had in the past, to be here today, is a special moment in my career.”
In contrast to the former PFL seasons, where finishes earned points and points helped to make a hunter the play -offs, the PFL World Tournament was a Grand Prix, win or go home. Asked about the difference between the two, said Carlos Junior: “To be honest for me it is the same. I just want to go there, win the fight and go to the next. This looks more like how it used to be in Jiu-Jitsu, so I am used to it. Maybe this way is a bit better.”
A victory could solve Antonio Carlos Junior for large fights with Corey Anderson or Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov. Although he prefers to avoid Dovlet.
“I would not like to fight against Dovlet because he is a great friend. We train a lot together, we always help each other. To be honest, I just think of my next fight, I think of Sullivan. What the future is for the future. I am not happy to emphasize that I think about it.”
Experience is now something that ACJ believes that it will be a key factor in his PFL World Tournament -Final with Sullivan Cauley.
“I think it makes a big difference in this fight. He doesn’t have many fights. I have gone through many things in MMA, in sport and in the fighting,” Carlos Junior remarked. “Some things you just learn through experience. I had many mistakes in my career, and I just learned by doing these mistakes, or doing it right with the experience I had. I think it will be a good point for me.”
