The rough season of Anthony Volpe got even worse on Friday in a loss of 1-0 for the Red Sox.
Not only was the short stop hit again to extend his slump to 1-from-25, he was booed after a strikeout in the eighth and made a mental error at shortstop a collection later.
Volpe’s crime in the top of the ninth of a one-run game came in second place with Jarren Duran.
Ceddanne Rafaela hit a grounder to Volpe and instead of making the routine throw to the first, Volpe threw behind Duran to Jazz Chisholm Jr. Second.
Duran was safe and Rafaela defeated the throw from Chisholm to the first.
The piece went as the choice of a field player, but the 16 errors of Volpe are the highest in the competition.
“It was clearly not the right game, but it was also a bit of an intoxicating game,” said Aaron Boone, somewhat to defend his short stop.
Boone noted that there was a “gap” between Duran and Chisholm.
Yet it is a play that cannot be made at that time.
Volpe followed home with a solid throw to get Duran on the plate at a contact game later in the inning.
The malaise of the short stop is just as alarming.
He has 10 strikeouts in his last 25 battles and when he was against Garrett Whitlock for the second on the bottom of the eighth, Volpe heard a number of relatively loud Koos.
“He didn’t wave it great last week,” said Boone. “The last two days he just missed a few throws and then he had some confused swings. We have to let him go offensively again.”
Since 12 June, only six players have a worse OPS than the .680 from Volpe.
And his .171 average is the worst under 162 qualified batters in the same wingspan.
Prior to the match, touching coach James Rowson said that Volpe’s performance on the record would not have been as bad as the recent figures indicate.
“It sometimes appears because he has no hits in a certain number of percussions, but it is not purely about results,” said Rowson. “His barriers in the past month have been really good. The results must also be there and there have not been many hits, but he does not do much different than when he was locked up earlier in the season.”

Until Rowson’s point can be supplied an argument that Volpe has reached a breakdown since 2 August, with a .167 Babip, compared to his .272 career marking and .241 number for this season.
Boone said there was no update about when Aaron Judge could possibly play the outfield while he is involved in the right flexor voltage that has limited him to DH tasks.
Jonathan Loáisiga is planned to Dr. Keith Meister on Tuesday, because the righthander could be on his way to another elbow operation. Loáisiga appeared in 30 games this season, but was on the IL with tightness prior to the elbow injury.
Fernando Cruz (slanted) gave up a point in 1 ¹/₃ innings in a rehabilitation appearance with Double-a Somerset.
Boone said that in the ninth in the ninth Rosario he had considered Trent Grisham for Trent Grisham against Aroldis Chapman, but decided not to do it.
Rosario is 3-out-7 with two homers against the Lefty, while Grisham is now 0-out-3 with three strikeouts.
Austin Wells has recently seen his playing time, a result of his struggles on the album, as well as the rise of Ben Rice at Catcher.
“Ben has earned more opportunities there,” said Boone about Rice, who was initially Friday. “Wells has experienced struggles in recent weeks … We know what Austin is capable of and it is a product of rice that penetrates and and and and [having Paul] Goldschmidt in the first instance. “
Wells came from a match in which he homered the rays twice.
“Hopefully, Well’s offensive will be a little grip,” said Boone.
Austin Slater (Left Hamstringstam) started baseball activities and on -board on the Outfield on Friday, but Boone said there was no updated timeline for his return.
