Some things can shock you in silence.
And when you are on a broadcast, silence can be uncomfortable … For you and the hundreds of thousands – if not millions – listen.
We were reminded of this during the top of the fifth inning between the Texas Rangers and the athletics while a camera was cut to a man who grabbed and rubbed the chest of a woman.
(It seemed to be consensual.)
The couple seemed to know that they were on the camera.
The camera cut away immediately as the broadcast of the A went into a non -surprising uncomfortable silence.
“You are a handful, Chris,” it was said shortly afterwards on the broadcast, probably referring to A’s Play-by-Play broadcaster Chris Caray.
This was followed by 22 seconds of mainly silence of the broadcast before Rangers third baseman Josh Bung hit a Pop fly to midfield.
Caray chuckled while calling, which led to the third and a commercial break when the Rangers led the 5-2 of the A in the middle of the fifth inning.
Regarding the game itself, the Rangers maintained the lead for the rest of the outing and took a 9-3 victory home.

The series final, which is played on Sunday, will be for the Sweep for Texas series, which is also on a four-game extraction streak and only a few days are removed from scoring 20 points against the Los Angeles Angels earlier this week.
The Rangers, in the middle of a Playoff-Achtervolging, are 70-67 in the season and 2.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners for the last place in the Wild Card card of the American League.
The As, at 63-74, are not really in play-off rack and almost 10 games away from the last wildcard spot.
