GB’s Anna Hursey will partner European No. 1 Bernadette Szocs in the women’s dubbles at the WTT -star London.
The striking combination reflects the growing form of Hursey in the world game, where the Welshe teen is asked to work some of the world’s leading players.
First in the queue, it seems, is the 30-year-old Romanian SZOCS (shown above), currently ranked no. 16 in the world and the ruling European Games Ladies Singles Champion.
She also won women’s doubles in addition to Sofia Polcanova of Austria at the World Championships in Doha earlier this year – the couple was defeated in the gold medal match by China’s Wang Manyu & Kuai -Man.
Director Performance Development, Gavin Evans, said: “Big names ask Anna to play with them, which reflects her growing profile – people take note of her performance and what she can bring for potential partnerships.
“This is also important for the GB path, because not only other athletes can do on the program train with someone who works at that level, but they can also see what is possible if they really work for it.”
Further double combinations with British players, Plus Singles Wildcards, will be revealed in the coming days.
